A Journey Youth Summer 2014!

Our Journey Youth Group will be using the summer of 2014 as a chance to grow closer to Christ by focusing on Fun, Friends and Family, and Fellowship.  Each of these is an amazing gift from God and should be celebrated often.  The events below will give us all opportunities to do just that!

Gwinnet Braves Game:  June 27th

Fun:

Our first event will be a trip to see the Gwinnett Braves! All rising 6-12 grade (and recently graduated “alumni”!!!) Journey youth, and their families, are invited on an outing to see a G-Braves game on June 27. Carpool for those who need it will leave from the church at 5:15 PM, however, meeting at the stadium is encouraged. We’ll grill hot dogs in the stadium parking lot at 6:00 PM and first pitch is at 7:05 PM. Weather permitting there will be fireworks that evening after the game.

The church will cover the ticket price for all Grace Church youth. Family and friends will pay a group ticket rate of $12 each. Your payment is your reservation. Please make your payment/reservation (checks made payable to Grace Church with “youth outing” in the memo line) directly with Teddy or in the parish office no later than Monday, June 16.

Parish Wide Lock-In:  Planning meeting July 13th, Lock-In July 25th – 26th

Friends and Family:

We are very lucky at Grace to have an amazing parish family supporting the youth group in many ways.  Our 2nd event, which has two parts, will be a wonderful opportunity to share one of our favorite events with the other members of Grace.  It will also be a chance for us to say thank you by showing them a good time!  We will celebrate with a parish wide lock-in July 25-26 from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. the following morning.  To make sure we are ready, we’ll have a youth planning meeting quickly after church on July 13 in the youth room.  A light lunch will be provided during the planning meeting.  All youth and leaders that are able, please try to attend so we can make sure to show the parish an evening (and morning) they’ll remember for a long time to come!

Camp Mikell Youth Retreat:  August 8th – 10th

Fellowship:

Our last summer event will focus on fellowship with each other and with Christ.  We will once again head to Camp Mikell for a weekend full of fun and worship.  This will be an event for youth and youth leaders and will be a great kick-off for a year full of meaningful praise and worship.  We will leave for Camp Mikell Friday afternoon and return early Sunday afternoon.  It will be a deep and meaningful weekend full of fun and spiritual growth.  During discussions with the youth, many mentioned this event as one of their most meaningful experiences so far in the program.  If you are entering 6th-12th grade, please make an extra effort to be there for this wonderful weekend.

If you are not a member of our facebook group, please contact me so we can add you.  It is a great place to get all of the latest information on the program.  Also, if you have never received an email from me, please contact me at Tivey@gracechurchgainesville.org and I will make sure to add you to the email list.

As always, I look forward to exploring ways we can grow with each other in faith.  Here’s to a great summer where we celebrate Fun, Friends and Family, and Fellowship!
