Ministry of Presence: Holy Listening and Prayer
Beginning Sunday September 9, Community of Hope International chaplains will be present in the Chapel on Sundays during the Christian Education hour (9:30-10:30 AM) to meet with individuals for prayer. This time is available for individuals who may choose to come on a regular basis or one time. It will also be a space held intentionally for prayer so that even if you don’t need to talk to another person but just want a space for quiet prayer, this time and space will be available. Enter the chapel through the front doors.
Doughn-It Feel Good to Be at Grace
Please join us from 9:00 – 9:30 AM on Sunday, September 9, in the Parish Hall for coffee and doughnuts to welcome our newest friends to Grace. This informal gathering, held on the second Sunday of every other month, gives each of us an opportunity to share a conversation or two with friends familiar to us and those we have not yet met. Come spend some time with us!
Lost and Found
Our lost and found is overflowing with many items which have been left at Grace. These items include jewelry, clothing, umbrellas, dishes and toys. A lost and found table is located in the hallway across from the information station. Please take a look and take home anything that belongs to you. After Sunday, September 9 any items left will be donated.

Strange Ancestors and Crazy Uncle Charlie at Thanksgiving
Beginning September 12, Rev. Michael McCann will lead a three week study in the conference room following our Wednesday night meal, from 6:30 – 7:30 PM. “Strange Ancestors and Crazy Uncle Charlie at Thanksgiving” is a three-part introduction to how odd and alien early Christians were not only in their own time to Jews, Greeks, and Romans, but even more to us. Are early Christians the ancestors we want to resurrect, remember, learn from and embrace? Would you like to be an early Christian?
Elements of a Contemplative Reformation: Workshop I
I hope you will consider attending the first workshop in the Elements of a Contemplative Reformation series. On September 15, we will share a time of conversation and reflection with the Rev. Dr. Tilden Edwards, Founder and Senior Fellow of the Shalem Institute for Spiritual Formation (Washington, DC). Tilden will “zoom” in to us via video conference, sharing his thoughts on the importance of contemplative practice as well as offering a time for questions and answers from those attending. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn from Tilden, who has been so important in my own life.
Registration closes on Tuesday, September 11, so we can have a firm count to prepare. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to call. And, if you would like to explore scholarship assistance contact me as well.
These conversations are the grounding for our upcoming Bicentennial Campaign.
Grace adults gather each month in the Youth Room to watch and discuss movies old and new addressing a wide variety of subjects. A very casual occasion, participants often bring a little food and drink to share. We always have a good time and lively discussion-join us at 7:00 PM on Friday, September 14.
