News for August 12-18

Join Us at Open House

Please come share in this year’s Open House this Sunday, August 12. We’ll begin in the parish hall at 9:30 AM with information about some exciting improvements to our campus that have taken place behind the scenes this summer. You’ll also get a sneak peek of our new website, which will launch later this fall. An interactive tour of our building will follow, with an opportunity to explore information about Grace already available on our current website.

To fully participate, you are invited to bring a smartphone or a tablet with the ability to scan QR codes. Apps are available in the Play store for android and the App store for apple. Apple has built code recognition directly into the camera app on devices running the latest operating system. You can use your device to test this QR code. Just open your scanner app (or your camera) and hold your device so the entire code is on the screen.

Staff and ministry teams will also be located throughout the building to share information, so please come even without a device!

If you are relatively new to Grace, Open House will be a wonderful opportunity to make yourself more at home here; however, even if you have been here a while, you can learn something new. Open House is also a chance for parents to register children and youth for Christian Education classes and for one of our children’s choirs. Join us!

Gratitude for the Campus Vision & Development Committee

I want to take the opportunity to share my deepest gratitude for the Campus Vision & Development Committee, for their stalwart dedication and guidance for our entire campus! Mary Lynn Coyle and Bob Fowler, who chair this group, have worked with Martha Jacobs, Jennifer Romberg, Carla Kantola, Cathy Miller, Doug Smith, and Pepper Brown to enhance our entire parish campus.

I hope you will take time to come to the special Open House on August 12, at 9:30 AM. We will meet in the Parish Hall first for a presentation about the campus enhancements before spreading out into the building to explore ministries and our shared space.

Part of that exploration will include the chance to bid in our furniture auction. In order to make room for some new furniture, we are offering parishioners the chance to buy selected sofas, tables, and chairs. As you walk around the campus on Sunday, look for bid sheets that indicate available pieces. Furniture auction will end following the 10:45 AM service on Sunday, August 19. Proceeds will benefit Grace Church’s building fund.

I look forward to sharing more about the CVD Committee’s hard work at Open House this Sunday!

Yours, Stuart+

Blessing of Backpacks

Please come on August 12 and let us celebrate the beginning of a new school year and send all of our students and teachers off with our prayers as we bless backpacks during the 10:45 AM service. Bring your backpack or satchel and join us!

Summer Pick Up Choir

All are invited to join our summer pick-up choir every (or any) Sunday in August. No experience or previous choir participation is necessary. Meet in the nave at 10:00 AM to rehearse a simple anthem and look at the hymns and service music for the morning.

SacrisTea Talk

The next episode of SacrisTea Talk goes live on Fr. Stuart’s Facebook page on Monday, August 13 at 10:00 AM! (You can view past episodes on his blog.)

On August 13, Canon John Bolton will join us for a conversation about the deeper meaning of liturgy and worship.

Join a Foyer Group

Foyers consist of small groups of adults who meet in one another’s homes for a meal and fellowship over the course of approximately six months. Participation helps facilitate deeper relationships among Grace Church members. Newcomers are especially encouraged to sign up. Foyer groups are forming now and sign up continues until August 26.
