Sunday Forum: Lent at Home
Come join us during the Sunday Forum this week, February 4, for the first seasonal session on taking faith home. We’ll explore activities for all ages to help observe the season of Lent at home: devotionals, games, practice helps, prayers, conversation starters and more! Come check it out! The Sunday Forum meets in the Parish Hall on Sundays from 9:30 – 10:30 AM.
Bible Study Update
The Sunday morning Bible study is meeting in room 210 of the preschool wing during the colder months. Join us to read the New Testament in chronological order and explore how the church grew in it’s faith. Learn how the world around it helped or hindered it’s growth and how it changed based on the times.
In February we will be reading:
- February 4: Colossians
- February 11: Gospel of Matthew
- February 18: Hebrews
- February 25: Gospel of John
Besides the New Testament scriptures, our other primary text is Evolution of the Word by Marcus Borg. We are also utilizing thebibleproject.com and occasionally The New Testament video series from The Great Courses.

Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper
Friday, February 9 is the deadline to make your Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper reservation.
The youth of Grace (middle and high schoolers) cordially invite the families of Grace to the annual Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper on Tuesday February 13 from 5:30 – 7:30 PM in the Parish Hall.
The youth and the youth leaders will be cooking, serving, welcoming, and cleaning up afterwards. This event is one of the fundraisers to help support the youth pilgrimage in June 2019, so tips will be welcomed and much appreciated! The youth are presently considering one of two options: Iona and London or Taize and Paris. An announcement will be made at the Pancake Supper about which option they select! So, join us for this party with plenty of butter and fat and sugar before you put it all away on Wednesday morning to begin your Lenten devotion.
Reservations are required. Cost is: free for children up to 5th grade, $5 for youth (6th – 12th grade) and $10 for adults. Reserve your place (online, at the information station, or call 770-536-0126) no later than Friday February 9!! There is no nursery offered during the pancake supper – the whole family is invited!
Our Family Promise guests will be with us February 18-25 but volunteer sign up is going on now. Visit our online spreadsheet to see ways you can help with this outreach effort.
Please note: to add your name to the volunteer spreadsheet from a mobile device you will first need to download the Google Sheets App. Get Google Sheets for Android. Get Google Sheets for iPhone/iPad. You may also email Tricia McDuff to sign up or if you have any questions.
Grace adults gather each month in the Youth Room to watch and discuss movies old and new addressing a wide variety of subjects. A very casual occasion, participants often bring a little food and drink to share. We always have a good time and lively discussion-join us at 7:00 PM on Friday, February 9.
