First Summer Pick Up Choir This Sunday

All Grace Church adults, and middle through high school youth, are invited to join the first pick-up choir of the summer on Sunday, July 9. No experience or previous choir participation is necessary. We will meet in the nave at 10:00 AM to rehearse a simple anthem and look at the hymns and service music for the morning. The pick-up choir will not robe or process, we will come forward to present our offertory anthem and return to the pews. Please join us! Contact Will Gotmer for more information.

Yoga Classes Begin July 10

Interested parishioners are invited to participate in a four week prayer yoga series, as a special adult formation summer offering. Classes will meet on Mondays with prayer chair yoga from 3:00 – 3:45 and prayer yoga flow from 4:00 – 4:45, July 10, 17, 24, and 31, in the parish hall. Please dress comfortably for movement and bring a yoga mat for flow yoga. (If you have any health issues, please make sure that you have consulted your doctor.) For more information contact Karen Murphy. Namaste!

SAGES Lunch & Learn Deadline

The deadline to sign up for the SAGES Lunch & Learn is Monday, July 10! Join SAGES on Thursday, July 20 at 10:30 AM to learn how to send and receive emails and text messages from your cell phone or tablet. If you get frustrated with technology and wish you knew how to do this one task – this is a great class for you. Our own Ted and Tina are computer and cell phone savy, closer to our age, and understand moving at our pace.

Class from 10:30 AM until about 12:00 PM. Noon to 1:30 will be a catered lunch (reservations are required) with the opportunity for some additional one on one instructional time. Click here for important details about the class, and make sure to sign up on or before the July 10 deadline!

Mark Pacoe Organ Concert

Internationally acclaimed organist, Mark Pacoe, will be giving a recital at Grace on Tuesday, July 11 at 7:00 PM. The concert is part of a Pipe Organ Encounters week sponsored by the Atlanta Chapter of the American Guild of Organists and Parkey Organ Builders, designed to educate and support middle and high school youth organists. They will be coming to Northeast Georgia on Tuesday to study the organ at Piedmont College and our organ here at Grace. Although the concert will be for the POE students, all members of the community are invited to attend!

Movie Night

Grace adults gather each month in the Youth Room to watch and discuss movies old and new addressing a wide variety of subjects. A very casual occasion, participants often bring a little food and drink to share. We always have a good time and lively discussion. Join us on Friday, July 14 at 7:00 PM.

Bible Study This Fall

Jenny Massey will lead a Sunday Morning Bible Study this fall between services. She is soliciting ideas, expectations, and thoughts from those that may be interested in participating. What do you want to study in Bible Study? How do you want to focus it? Here are some examples:

  1. Use the Sunday Lectionary for the coming week
  2. Chronological New Testament
  3. Women of the Bible
  4. The History and Context of the Bible
  5. Different methods on how to read the Bible (i.e. Lectio Divina, Sacred Reading…)

Email thoughts to Jenny.
