“Let there be peace on earth, and let it begin with me….”
More than 100 Grace parishioners, friends and neighbors participated in World Peace Village June 19-22 and did their part to foster peace and understanding with our neighbors of different faiths. We ate, sang, prayed, played, created and learned together all week, while we visited with our neighbors and learned a little more about Native American, Hindu, Buddhist and Islamic traditions. Check out a few great photos below. There are more on our Facebook page!
Many thanks to our speakers Johnna Tuttle of Stovall House Farms, Tejas Patwa of Gokuldahm Haveli, Dr. Allison Zavodny, and Imam Bilal Ali and Bahir of the Islamic and Cultural Center in Gainesville. We hope this is the first of many conversations we get to share. Many thanks also to all of the volunteers who pitched in to make the week a success: our greeters, musicians, game leaders, craft leaders, set up and clean up crews, photographers, social media experts, and more! Many hands make light work, and a great experience for us all. THANK YOU!
Part of what made World Peace Village so much fun was that our whole parish family participated together. Participants ranged in age from 2 to 82! I hope we can do that again! If you’d like to be a part of planning other inter generational events for Grace in the future, please contact Cheryl Kelley.
