This blog post highlights some events and news just for the upcoming week. The primary source of information about what’s happening at Grace Church is our weekly newsletter – for full news and events please subscribe to the e-vangelist!
On April 23, Dr. Park will discuss her linguistic research work with The Seed Company, a branch of the Wycliffe Bible Translators, on the biblical book of Ruth. Her work focuses on the challenges of establishing “dynamic equivalencies” in translation work and also on culturally-specific issues faced by oral tellers who are performing biblical texts for non-literate audiences.
Sunday, April 23 is the deadline to register for the Youth Lock-In at Grace from 7:00 PM April 28 until 7:00 AM on April 29. All students in grades 6-12 are invited and friends are welcome! Email firstname.lastname@example.org
Art Show Closing
Many thanks for everyone who supported our Grace Member Art Show. The show will close on Sunday, April 23. Several individuals have inquired about purchasing pieces. As we have announced previously, all sale arrangements, including price and delivery, are between the artist and interested party. A list of artists with pieces available and the artist’s contact email is posted in the parish hall.
Monday, April 24 is the deadline to sign up for the women’s outing to Wolf Mountain Vineyards & Winery for lunch and a tasting on Saturday, April 29. We’ll meet in the church parking lot at 11:15 AM that morning and carpool up to the winery. Please RSVP to Jessica Voyles.

On Wednesday evenings Dr. Park is leading the Women’s Group in discussions on discipline, executive functioning – when to let your children fail, staying on the same page with your spouse and staying married, and creating a religious culture in your home that honors both spouses traditions. Grace Church will soon publish our annual bulletin honoring all graduates from high school, college, and graduate school. High school graduates will also be recognized at church on Sunday, May 21. Please note there is one combined service at 10:00 AM on May 21, followed by our annual parish picnic.
If you (or your child) will graduate this spring, fill out the online recognition form and send a photo to Jennifer. The deadline to submit information for the bulletin is Sunday, May 14. Information submitted after the deadline will not appear in the published bulletin but high school graduates will still be recognized at church.
This spring we will be painting, carpeting, and installing new linoleum at our COG Preschool. Volunteers are needed for some of the prep work April 24-27, May 4, and May 9-11 and again for moving back in June 1-6. Please email Jeremy Landers for more details and to volunteer.
If you forgot to bring your mite box on Easter Sunday, it is not too late to turn it in. Money received will be forwarded to Episcopal Relief and Development to support projects assisting the needy in this and other countries.
We will next host Family Promise guests from May 14-21. Please visit our online spreadsheet or the volunteer board at the information station in the connector corridor to see ways you can help with this important outreach effort. Contact Tricia McDuff if you have any questions.
