The Great Vigil of Easter: Saturday, April 15

The Great Vigil of Easter begins at 8:30 PM on Saturday, April 15! This is clearly the most aesthetically dramatic liturgy in the Church year. It begins in darkness outside the building with the kindling of the new fire and the lighting of the Paschal Candle. The lessons that are the narrative of our entire salvation history will be told during the first part of the service, all of which happens in darkness—itself a dramatic setting.

Midway through this service when the Eucharist begins, the Season of Lent officially concludes with the celebrant proclaiming in a loud shout “Alleluia! Christ is risen!” To which the people respond joyfully, “The Lord is risen indeed. Alleluia.” At this point, the lights are illumined, bells ring out, and the joyous celebration of the Resurrection of Our Lord commences!!

Nursery available for kids age 4 and under. Please note that incense will be used at this service.

The Sunday of the Resurrection: Sunday, April 16

A Choral Holy Eucharist

A Choral Holy Eucharist will be held at 9 AM and again at 11 AM. Both services will feature some very special music and will be a joyful celebration of the Resurrection!

No incense will be used at either service. No Children’s Chapel on Easter morning. A nursery will be available from 8:45 AM-12:15 PM for children age 4 and under.

A continental breakfast will be served in the parish hall between worship services, from 10:00 – 11:00 AM. Come end your Lenten fast.

Flowering of the Cross

All parishioners are invited to bring flowers and greenery from their garden to help flower the cross. This traditional Easter morning activity symbolizes that an instrument of cruel death has become a sign of life and love by the power and grace of God.

Resurrection Egg Hunt

Children 5th grade and younger are invited to bring their Easter baskets and meet at the crow’s nest across the street on the Brenau lawn (weather permitting) to participate in an egg hunt that will begin immediately following the 11:00 AM service.
