Change Your Clocks

It is time to spring forward! Daylight saving time begins at 2:00 AM on Sunday, March 12. Don’t forget to set your clocks ahead one hour before going to bed on Saturday.

Rise Against Hunger

The organizing team from Rise Against Hunger will be at Grace this Sunday following the second service. Volunteers will work in assembly line teams measuring, packing, and sealing 10,000 nutritious meal packages in just 2 hours! Over 50 people have already signed up to help but it is NOT too late to participate. Come lend a hand in the parish hall on Sunday, March 12 from 12:00 – 2:00 PM.

Lenten Sunday Forum

Our study of Lauren Winner’s Mudhouse Sabbath; Seven Ways of Christian Formation Inspired by the Jewishness of Jesus continues on March 12. Using a DVD with reflections by the author, we are exploring how a number of different traditional Jewish practices can inform and transform the way we, as Christians, view the world and God. The Forum meets Sunday mornings at 9:30 in the parish hall.

Ecumenical Service/Lunch

At noon each Wednesday in Lent we gather with members of other churches in our community for worship and a light lunch (suggested donation of $5). Gainesville First United Methodist will host on March 15, with The Rev. Dr. Cynthia Park preaching and music by the Antioch Baptist Church Choir. Full schedule on our website. Please note that there will be no 12:10 PM service in our chapel during Lent.

Lenten Soup & Salad Suppers

The whole family is invited to come share in a space of fellowship and a simple soup and salad meal from 5:30 – 6:30 PM on Wednesday evenings during Lent. Cost is $6 for youth and adults, children 5th grade and younger eat free. The menu March 15 is potato soup w/toppings (bacon, cheese, ham, sour cream, green onions), tossed salad, and dinner rolls. Reservations should be made online or at the information station by noon on Monday, March 13.

Wednesday Night Bible Study

Please stay after dinner on March 15 and join us for a Lenten Bible Study. We will gather at 6:15 PM in the parish hall to explore together the Gospel texts for the upcoming Sunday, reflecting on their meaning for us today.

Grace Member Art Show

The Grace Church Member Art show is back by popular demand! During this Lenten season, enjoy a display of the amazing talent shared by some of your fellow Grace Church parishioners. Close to 50 pieces have been submitted – including paintings, mixed media, photography, and fabric. No craft retail will be included in the 2017 show. Any inquiries for purchase of an art piece will be between the artist and the prospective buyer. Art will be on display in the parish hall from March 15 until April 23.

Mite Boxes & Devotional Booklets

Mite boxes and devotional booklets are still available at the information station. A PDF file of the booklet can be downloaded here.

Leave Your Prayers at the Cross

The cross that is used for flowering on Easter morning is being used to hold our Lenten burdens. Stop by the cross in the Greeting Area, write down a prayer or worry on a slip of paper provided, then roll it up and place it in the cross. Children may draw a picture, but need not write anything at all. The simple act of thinking a prayer and rolling up the paper is similar to lighting a candle in prayer. On Easter morning the prayers will be taken out and replaced with flowers.

Easter Flowers

Donations for flowers for Easter Sunday can be given in memory or in thanksgiving for family members and friends. Notice of your donation will be printed in the Easter service bulletins. A minimum donation of $25 is requested. Please fill out a donation form and return it with payment in the offertory plate or by mail to the church office at 422 Brenau Avenue, Gainesville, GA 30501. Deadline for orders is Sunday, April 9.
