This blog post highlights some events and news just for the upcoming week. The primary source of information about what’s happening at Grace Church is our weekly newsletter – for full news and events please subscribe to the e-vangelist!
Ecumenical Wednesday Service/Lunch
At noon each Wednesday in Lent we gather with members of other churches in our community for worship and a light lunch (suggested donation of $5). St. Michael’s Catholic will host on March 8, with Pastor Isaac Whitehead (First Baptist on MLK) preaching and music by the First Baptist (on Green Street) Choir. Full schedule on our website. Please note that there will be no 12:10 PM service in our chapel during Lent.
Lenten Soup & Salad Suppers
The whole family is invited to come share in a space of fellowship and a simple soup and salad meal from 5:30 – 6:30 PM on Wednesday evenings during Lent. Cost will be $6 for youth and adults. Children 5th grade and younger eat free. The menu March 8 will be chili and vegetarian chili with toppings and salad. Reservations should be made online or at the information station by noon on Monday, March 6.
Wednesday Night Offerings
Please stay after dinner on March 8, 15, and 22 and join us for a Lenten Bible Study. We will gather at 6:15 PM in the parish hall to explore together the Gospel texts for the upcoming Sunday each week, reflecting on their meaning for us today.
Lenten Sunday Forum
Join us on Sunday mornings during Lent as we study Lauren Winner’s Mudhouse Sabbath; Seven Ways of Christian Formation Inspired by the Jewishness of Jesus. Using a DVD with reflections by the author, we will explore a number of different traditional Jewish practices during Lent including Sabbath Keeping, Hospitality, Prayer, Fasting, Grief and Mourning, and how these practices can inform and transform the way we, as Christians, view the world and God. The Forum meets Sunday mornings at 9:30 in the parish hall.
Grace adults gather each month in the Youth Room to watch and discuss movies old and new addressing a wide variety of subjects. A very casual occasion, participants often bring a little food and drink to share. We always have a good time and lively discussion-join us at 7:00 PM on Friday, March 10.

We look forward to the Grace Member Art Show beginning on March 15. We have close to 50 pieces registered and will be highlighting many of the exceptional visual artists we have at Grace.
