The Feast of the Holy Cross

Please plan on attending services on our parish feast day, The Feast of the Holy Cross, on Sunday, September 11! This year, our bishop, the Rt. Rev. Rob Wright will be with us to celebrate and preach at both services.

There will also be a continental breakfast from 9:00 – 10:30 AM in the Greeting Area and a special forum led by Bishop Wright will begin at 9:30 in the Parish Hall.

On our parish feast day each year, we celebrate Holy Baptism and give thanks for our parish community, remembering especially our symbolic link with the Church of the Holy Sepulchre with a special moment of prayer and veneration in the service. As we do each year, the entire congregation will be invited up to the altar to view and pray with the stone from the Church of the Holy Sepulchre that is embedded in our altar. It will be a day filled with prayer, fellowship, beautiful anthems, candles, and community.

Women’s Bible Study

The Women’s Bible Study group will meet on Sunday evenings September 11 through October 16 (except September 18) to study Faith Club: A Muslim, A Christian, A Jew-Three Women Search for Understanding, by Ranya Idliby, Suzanne Oliver and Priscilla Warner. All women 18 and over are invited to join us from 4:30-6:30 PM in the parish hall. Child care provided.

Jr. Choristers

Grace Church’s choir for 1st and 2nd graders (and 3rd graders new to music) will begin rehearsing on Wednesday, September 14 from 5:00-5:40 PM. The Jr. Choristers program is designed to teach our younger children the foundational skills of choral singing in worship to prepare them for the Choristers program. They will sing in worship 6-8 times per year and will use the introductory RSCM (Royal School of Church Music) VOICE for LIFE curriculum to help build their vocal skills and musical understanding.

If you or someone you know is interested in singing in any of Grace Church’s choirs contact Will Gotmer.

Fundraiser for Habitat

As you know, Grace has been a partner with Habitat for Humanity, Hall County, for many years. This year, Habitat has been chosen as the recipient of the Medical Center Foundation Gold Tournament award. The tournament is on October 6, but there are raffle tickets available for those who might want to participate in this way. The tickets are $25.00 each and can be purchased in the parish office. The winner of the drawing can choose either $2,500 cash or a Chicopee Woods Eagle Golf Package. All proceeds will go toward the building of homes for families in Hall County-an incredible ministry for our community. If you have any questions, please contact Fr. Stuart or George Henderson, Junior Warden, both of whom serve on the Habitat board.
