Doughnn-it Feel Good to have an Open House

On Sunday, August 7, come share in a bit of a “progressive brunch/scavenger hunt” as we host an Open House throughout the entire campus between the worship services. Visit the Greeting Area first to pick up your scavenger hunt card and to enjoy donuts and the opportunity to welcome folks that are new to our community.

Then begin your tour through the building, visiting some spaces you may never have been and picking up a snack at certain stations along the way. All are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to mingle a bit and explore the building and the classrooms between services on August 7.

Back to School Blessing

On August 7, we will have a special back-to-school blessing during the Welcome. Teachers and students (of all ages) are invited to bring backpacks that day for a special prayer! Also, we will have a special cross for each person to attach to their bag or purse-a little reminder of a prayer during busy school days.

Back to School Blast

Join us August 7 for an afternoon of laser tag and bowling to celebrate the beginning of the school year! We’ll have lunch at church after the 10:45 AM service, and head over to Funtastic for laser tag and bowling until around 3:00 PM. Cost is $10 per person. The deadline to sign up is August 4 so contact Cheryl today if you plan to attend!

School Supply Deadline Extended

The deadline to donate school supplies has been extended until Wednesday, August 10! There’s still lots of room in the collection boxes, located near the information station in the connector corridor and in the parish office. Supplies requested are: #2 pencils with erasers, spiral notebooks, glue sticks, blunt tip metal scissors, 16 or 24 ct. Crayola crayons, washable markers, wide rule filler paper, pocket folders with brads, Crayola colored pencils, cap erasers, highlighters, pencil boxes, zip lock bags (sandwich, quart or gallon), hand sanitizer, disinfectant wipes, index cards and boxes of facial tissue. The supplies will be delivered to a school in our community!

We will once again head to Camp Mikell for fun, games, prayer, and great food. Cost is $100 per student and scholarships are available. We will leave around dinner time Friday and return at the 10:45 service on Sunday. Registration information will be sent by email, please contact Alan if you do not receive it! Acolyte Workshop Calling all acolytes, old and new! This will be a fun, fast-paced training and skill-building day. This is mandatory for new acolytes as well as seasoned older youth. If you want to step up your game or learn how to be a thurifer, make sure to get to this workshop Saturday, August 13 from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM.

Daughters of the King

The Daughters of the King is a lay order of women in the Episcopal Church. As Daughters we live our confirmation vows of prayer, service and evangelism for the spread of Christ’s kingdom. At Grace Church, we meet monthly for study and fellowship and serve in many different ministries. All women are invited to visit our meetings. Our next meeting will be August 10, from 10:30 to 11:30 AM. You are encouraged to attend if you are considering becoming a Daughter. Our next discernment class will begin August 21.

Movie Night

Grace adults gather monthly to watch and discuss movies addressing a wide variety of subjects. A very casual occasion, participants often bring a little food and drink to share, and the popcorn is always plentiful. Join us at 7:00 PM on Friday, August 12.
