Christian Education April 17

Forum: Exploring Anglican Spirituality Fr. The Forum is meeting in the Parish Hall.

Purge to the Pod has Begun!

From now until April 22 you can bring furniture and household items that you would like to donate to Habitat’s ReStore to Grace Church, unloading them into the Pod in the parking lot at the Grace Center during office hours. Large item pickup can be arranged (and is encouraged!) by calling ReStore at 770-718-1070. All medium to smaller housewares, building supplies, anything that one neither wears nor eats is fair game with the ReStore.

Prayer Practice Class

Join Laura Masterson and Cheryl Kelley in the chapel on Thursday, April 21 to explore different ways to experience scripture and prayer. We’ll use our senses and imaginations to see where God is leading us. Bring a journal and your curiosity and meet in the chapel at noon. We will finish before 1:00 PM. This class, a continuation of the Lenten offering, will be held on the first and third Thursday of each month.

A Space to Explore Jewish Mysticism

REGISTER NOW to spend a couple days with Rabbi Mark Biller when he returns to Grace on Friday, May 6 (5:30 pm dinner, 6:30 discussion) and Saturday, May 7 (10 am to 2 pm, lunch included). He will share teachings with us on Jewish Mysticism and on Kabbalah – which have influenced the Christian contemplative tradition so deeply throughout the centuries. It will be a remarkable opportunity to share in conversation with Rabbi Biller as we delve even more deeply into our practice of prayer.

Cost for the event (to cover Friday dinner and Saturday lunch) is $25. RSVP with a registration form and payment to the office, or call Isabel at 770-536-0126 with any questions you may have.

Training to Protect Children & Youth, Adults

There are many processes in place to protect children and youth at Grace. If you work with children or youth in the church — or might serve in this way — please consider being trained in Safeguarding God’s Children. This program is one part of our prevention of abuse of children and allows us to offer an environment that is nourishing to all and expresses our love of children in healthy ways. Safeguarding God’s Children is required of all who regularly work with children and youth (as well as our vestry and other staff). If you have been trained previously, you must renew this training every 3 years.

A training opportunity is available Saturday, April 23, at Camp Mikell in Toccoa. Safeguarding God’s Children will be offered from 9:00 AM-12:00 PM and Dr. Cynthia Park will facilitate Safeguarding God’s People (adults) from 1:00 – 4:00 PM. Safeguarding is offered several times a year at various locations. The training at Camp Mikell has been canceled. Grace will host Safeguarding training May 14. Please contact Father Alan or the church office if you are interested or have any questions. We can also answer questions about how often you have to assist with youth or children to require this training.

Community Concert: Voices of North Georgia

Voices of North Georgia invites you to, “Make His Praise Glorious,” a concert of sacred music of well known Anglican Hymns and works from the Renaissance period. The concert will be presented at Grace Church on Friday, April 22 and Saturday, April 23 at 7:30 PM. Tickets at the door – $15.00; $12.00 senior; $5.00 children under 11.

Parish Office Update

The conference room and two of the classrooms in The Grace Center are still serving as staff offices. If you need to visit us during office hours (Monday – Thursday from 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM) please enter The Grace Center through the double doors near the back of the parking lot, NOT the red doors facing Brenau Avenue. Thank you for your patience while our facility is being improved!

Information Table

The Information Table has been permanently relocated to the connector corridor, just around the corner from the Greeting Area.

Baptisms

The next scheduled date for baptisms is Sunday, May 15 at the 10:00 AM service. Please contact Brenda in the parish office if you would like to be baptized or have a child baptized.
