Last Chance to Support Hunger Walk

This Sunday, March 13, a team of our youth will join hundreds of others at Hunger Walk/Run 2016 to raise money and awareness to stop hunger in our region. The team has raised just 62% of their $500 goal. If they make it all the way to $1,000 the youth get to select a list of words that Father Alan has to incorporate into a sermon. Your contribution can help make that happen! Follow the link below and click “Donate Now.”  You can donate on behalf of a specific youth team member or to the team as a whole.

A labyrinth will be available at Grace following Sunday worship for those parishioners who want to walk with the youth in spirit. Let us step up and stop hunger together.

Palm Cross Making

All members of the congregation are invited to join the DOK in the Parish Hall on Saturday, March 19 at 10:00 AM to make palm crosses. We will have instructions so that everyone, including those of us who have done this before, can learn/remember how to make them. Please bring a pair of scissors with you, and mark them so you’ll get the same pair back. This is a good family activity so come join us.

Palm Sunday & Holy Week

Please visit our website to explore all our offerings for Palm Sunday and Holy Week. Join us at Grace Church as we remember His death in anticipation of the resurrection.

Will You Help Keep Watch?

It is an ancient custom of the Church to keep a watch before the Reserved Sacrament following the liturgy of Maundy Thursday. The watch recalls the time Jesus and his disciples spent in the Garden of Gethsemane after the Last Supper and before Jesus’ arrest. Parishioners are invited to sign up online or at the information table for a one hour shift between 8:00 PM Thursday evening, March 24, until the watch ends at the beginning of the proper Good Friday liturgy at noon on March 25.

Sacred Threads

The Creative Expression ministry cluster is happy to announce the upcoming Sacred Threads Quilt exhibition, at Grace Episcopal Church from April 13 through May 4, 2016. The quilts will be displayed in our Parish Hall and Greeting Area.

The nationally touring exhibition features 40 quilts with themes of joy, peace and brotherhood, inspiration, grief, healing, and spirituality. The quilts in the traveling show were chosen from a national juried exhibition of over 200 quilts held in 2015, sponsored by the Sacred Threads organization based in Fairfax, Virginia. Grace Episcopal is one of approximately 20 locations across the United States that will host this show.

We are happy to also announce a quilt by a member of our Grace family, Judy Carpenter, was one of the quilts selected to be part of the traveling exhibition.

An informational meeting on the show, along with identifying volunteer opportunities, will be held on Tuesday, March 15 at 6:00 PM in the Youth Room. Participation by members of our Parish is appreciated as we anticipate visitors from throughout NE Georgia and the Atlanta Metro area. Events surrounding the exhibit will be featured in upcoming newsletters.

Celebrate Dr. David Burton-Brown

Mark your calendars and plan to join us on Sunday, April 17 as we celebrate Dr. Brown’s time with us at Grace. In an effort to have an interim period before the new organist/choirmaster arrives-and in an effort to give David an extended paid vacation to rest and make plans-David’s last Sunday with us will be that day, April 17.

In looking at a way to give thanks for David’s time with us, he would like to invite all former choristers and choir members to sing a special anthem that Sunday morning at the 10:45 AM service. More details will be forthcoming, but please mark your calendars for this and consider being part of this special musical offering. As well, we will have a full English Tea after the service to give thanks in person.

Youth Save the Date

Grace youth will host groups from parishes across Northeast GA for our first ever Lake & Mountain Lock-In, April 29-30. Look for more information soon.

Five volunteers are needed to assist with our walking Stations of the Cross service down Green Street at 1:00 PM on Friday, March 25. We are also in need of a megaphone for that event. If you can help, please contact Brenda at 770-536-0126 or by email. Thank you!
