Grace Church is joining with the Red Cross to learn how to build a resilient community in time of disaster. There are two shelter training and exercise events coming up for those interested in participating:
Shelter Fundamentals is a basic level course that introduces the guidelines and procedures for setting up, running and closing a shelter during a disaster. Shelter Fundamentals is a prerequisite for the Shelter Exercise course. This course will be held on Saturday, March 5 from 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Flowery Branch.
A Shelter Exercise will be held on Saturday, April 30 from 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM in parking lots at Grace Episcopal Church and Brenau University. A complete shelter and feeding center will be set up and opened in this drill. The Red Cross will have various staff demonstrate and lead activities that are included in a large shelter, such as Technology, Nursing, Feeding (ERV), External Relations, Logistics, and Financial and Statistical Information.
If you are interested in participating, please send your name, address including county, email, and phone number to Bobbie Ingenito (email@example.com) and to Karen Hillman (firstname.lastname@example.org) by Saturday, February 27.
