Advent Lessons & Carols
The Choristers and the Parish Choir of Grace Church will participate in our Advent Service of Lessons and Carols at 10:45 AM on December 13. This beautiful service, an Anglican tradition, is meant to help us prepare for Christmas. We will also have Holy Eucharist during the Lessons and Carols.
Come be blessed by hearing, again, the story of the coming of Christ.
Grace Family Christmas Tree
We have begun a new tradition of decorating a Grace Family Christmas Tree. If you have not already brought in your ornament, you are invited to bring it between services this Sunday, December 13. A ribbon will be attached with your family name and date. At the end of the season, ornaments will be packed up and stored at Grace to be put back on next year’s Family Christmas Tree. Don’t miss this chance to leave a small Christmas legacy at Grace Church.
Eight of our older youth – Josh Cook, William Forrester, Julia Hazell, Delaney Williams, Sara Cook, Louisa Gille, Victoria Martin, and Cameron Shreeram – and one adult – Daniel Grizzle – will join hundreds of others from around our diocese to be confirmed this Sunday, December 13 at the Cathedral of St. Philip in Atlanta. Amy and Shane Bussler will be received into the Episcopal Church as well.
Please join us as we celebrate this important day in the life of our parish. The service starts at 4:00 PM and it is advised to arrive a bit early for parking and finding a good seat.
On December 16, Karen Embry will lead us in a fun and interactive adventure as we experience a “Paper Bag Pageant.” This creative activity is a feel good look at the Christmas story and is an engaging event for all and a wonderful way to cap off this series of Candlelight Cafés.

Youth: Register Now for DYC 2015
DYC is an annual retreat for grades 6-12 at Camp Mikell. It is a great weekend of music and fun with students from all over the Diocese. Our own Louisa Gille is on staff this year so we know it will be awesome! Anyone who has been to DYC can apply to plan and run the retreat next year! The dates this year are January 8-10. Cost is $100 for the weekend. Depending on numbers, we will help coordinate travel. We also would love an adult trained in Safeguarding to act as a chaperone for the weekend (the church will pay for your registration . . . please contact Father Alan if you are interested).
Registration and payment are now handled through the diocese. Register here.
2nd Artist’s Way Group Forming
A second Artist’s Way class is forming at Grace. Join us as we explore Julia Cameron’s, The Artist’s Way; A spiritual path to higher creativity. From January 11- March 28 we’ll meet in the Grace Center conference room on Mondays from 6:00-8:00 PM to discover and rediscover our creative selves. You’ll need a copy of the book, a journal, and a willingness to play! Class size is limited, email Ann Goble to register.
Tips for Actors (and those who want to be) Workshop
An acting workshop, led by parishioner Bert Emma, will be held at Grace Church on Saturdays from 10:00 AM to 12:15 PM, January 9-February 13. This workshop is a great introduction to acting or a refresher course if you have acted before – so it is open to new and experienced actors. There is no charge for the workshop, however you will be responsible for purchasing the text, The Complete TIPS – Ideas for Actors, by Jon Jory. The workshop is limited to 12 participants and spots will be offered on a first come-first serve basis to those who sign up at the link below. Come join us, explore the creative possibilities and God-given talents that you may have and also have fun doing so.
Draw the Epiphany
Children and youth up to 12th grade are invited to contribute drawings of the Feast of the Epiphany to publish in the bulletin for the pageant service on January 6. Submit artwork by December 20 on this form.
