Shared Sunday Forum
Adult Christian Education will begin with a shared forum at 9:30 AM this Sunday, October 25. We will spend a bit of time talking about a Covenant of Presence, looking at language, listening, and shared practices that will help us see how to be authentic, supportive human beings living within community. Beginning in the second half of the forum, we will segue into a conversation about climate change and our shared existence in the world. Dr. Jeff Jones and Fr. Stuart will lead a four week conversation that kicks off a new series we are calling “At the Intersection of Faith and….” This first session is “At Intersection of Faith and Science.” Together, we’ll explore our perspective of the universe, looking at what Eucharistic Prayer C calls “the vast expanse of interstellar space.” Then, we’ll pivot to engage with Pope Francis’s recent encyclical Laudato Si’, a challenging document that lays out the pope’s vision for our shared humanity-and our shared responsibility to creation. And, we’ll end by spending a bit of time together wondering about sustainable living.
Parish Office Closed
The parish office will be closed for a staff planning day on Monday, October 26.
Prayers for the Requiem Litany
As part of the Requiem Mass for the Feast of All Saints at 5:00 PM on Sunday, November 1, we will offer prayers for all those in our lives who have died. If you want to remember a loved one in this way, please submit the form below to share those names no later than Monday, October 26. We will incorporate those names into our worship that evening. Don’t feel limited to just the previous year; if there is anyone close to you, please know that you can share their name as we celebrate the fullness of what the Feast of All Saints’ means.
Great Wednesdays at Grace
Back by popular demand, we’re excited to have Dr. Rudi Kiefer, Professor of Physical Science and Director of Sustainability at Brenau University, return to Grace Church for our #eatpraylearn GWAG on October 28. Always an entertaining presenter, Dr. Kiefer brings a wealth of expertise to an important topic today, our interaction with our environment, God’s created world. Enlivened with an a/v presentation and personal stories, Dr. Kiefer has provocatively titled his talk “Sustainability and Care for our Common Home,” but then he questions, “Isn’t it more than just the climate?” Please join us for what is sure to be a lively, interactive presentation. All are welcome.
Make a meal reservation no later than 12:00 PM on Monday. GWAG details
