logo2The Gifts of God
Our stewardship focus, The Gifts of God, reflects the belief that all gifts are bestowed by God and He simply asks that we share a portion to further His works and word. Our members are asked to decide how they will use their financial resources, time, and talents to support God’s mission. Pledge cards have been mailed to member households. We are asking for you to prayerfully consider how and where you can contribute and return your cards by November 22 so we might properly plan the 2016 budget. Your gifting decisions are very important to the parish and are the sole source of funding for the parish operations and outreach. We pray it reflects the “Gifts of God” you have received and continue to receive in your life.

GWAG October 21: #eatpraytalk

Youth News
November 13-14 we will join youth from all over the diocese for an annual lock-in. We will gather in the Gwinnett Center and play life-size Hungry Hungry Hippos, 9 Square and more! We’ll also be making a huge number of meals for the hungry in our community. (Have you ever made 10,000 meals at one time?) Participants will lead Annual Council in worship Saturday morning. The cost for the evening is $35.

Two retreats are also on the horizon. Happening is for 10th-12th grades and is a joy-filled spiritual retreat led and planned by teenagers. Happening is November 19-22. DYC is for all youth and takes place in January. If you have been to DYC before and would like to be on staff, we need to get you registered by next week so you can begin planning the retreat. Happening and DYC are at Camp Mikell and cost $100. As always, scholarships are available.

Please contact Fr. Alan immediately for registration details for the lock-in and/or retreats.

ANOTHER IMPORTANT DATE is November 22. Cakes & Casseroles returns! Get your baking/thinking hats on and look for more info soon.

Women’s Retreat
Calling ALL of the women of Grace! We have heard your prayers! We are planning the first of what we hope will become an annual Women’s Retreat weekend, and we need to hear from you! The retreat is scheduled for February 5th through 7th (Friday to Sunday) at Montreat Conference Center in Montreat, NC (about half an hour from Asheville). We will be lead by renowned story teller, singer, writer and retreat leader Donna Marie Todd!

The cost of the retreat weekend, which includes meals, will be $175 for double occupancy or $215 if you prefer a single room. For planning purposes we need an approximate head count now.  Please contact Cheryl Kelley to make your reservation or with any questions you may have. We’re asking for a deposit of $50 now, with the balance due at the time of the retreat.  As always, scholarships are available. Please mark your calendar, and let us know you’re interested!

Emmaus House Thanksgiving Outreach
Our Grace parish community, through the Outreach Committee, has again committed to provide Thanksgiving food bags to Emmaus House in Atlanta. We ask that you support this effort by donating a bag of groceries. The bags can be dropped off in the parish office or in the marked container by the information table between now and Wednesday, November 18. Please label the bag for Emmaus House.

For Family of 4

  • 2 cans of string beans (English cut)
  • 2 cans of corn
  • 2 cans of peas
  • 1 can of cranberry sauce
  • 2 boxes of muffin mix
  • 1 large bag of stuffing
  • 1 box of brownie mix
  • 1 bag of rice (1 lb)

Grace Church, through our Outreach budget, will provide turkeys to accompany the groceries. You can also leave a check payable to Grace Episcopal Church, with “Emmaus House Thanksgiving” in the memo line, at the parish office no later than Wednesday, November 18. For every $20 donated, we will be able to provide one bag of groceries to feed a family of four. Thank you for your continued support!

Mission Trip
Charles Kelley and Linden Gaspar will join members of other Gainesville churches for the Amigos for Christ mission trip to Nicaragua October 24—31. Please keep them in your prayers while they are away.
