Reflecting theologically; Living mindfully
A Special Summer Sunday Forum
These have been momentous two weeks for our entire world, and every person I know is working to absorb the invitations—and challenges—we have received: from Pope Francis’s encyclical Laudato Si and the conversation around climate change, to the tragic events in Charleston in a climate of racism and violence, to the Supreme Court ruling on same-sex marriage. Intense days. At times like this, we are reminded that we have a community of faith that offers a space to reflect theologically We have the opportunity to engage in deep listening, compassionate care, and mindful practice as we imagine what it looks like to be part of the Body of Christ in the world today.

Join the conversation on Sundays July 5 and 12 at 9:30 AM in the parish hall as we practice this most Anglican skill: theological reflection. We’ll share a bit of education around theological language as we share a supportive space with each other.
Blessings,
Stuart+

Young Adults: A Month of Brunch
Hey Young Adults! Yes, you: partnered/single, college/career, 20s/30s, spiritual/religious. Come to brunch! Sundays in July, after the 10:45 service, (except for July 12), we’ll meet at a place TBD where we can eat, and chat, and enjoy getting together. No pressure — drop in, drop out. Email Father Alan if you are interested in attending so we can plan, but you can also just show up. All are welcome.

Choristers in Charlotte
Seven of our RSCM choristers (Royal School of Church Music) will gather July 6-12 with another 100+ choristers from all over the South to spend a week together in learning more about Church Choir music. The week will be spent at Queens University in Charlotte, North Carolina. Every day the choristers will rehearse all morning, enjoy outdoor activities in the early afternoon, more rehearsal in the later afternoon, and an Evensong each evening. Meals are taken together, all participants live in dormitory rooms, learn about sight-singing, and perfect a long program of anthems and response leading up to a final full Evensong on Sunday, 12 July as the termination of the course. This is the third time that Grace Episcopal choristers will participate in the Charlotte Course of RSCM, having attended similar courses in summer 2011 and 2013. Participation in the Charlotte Course is one of the factors leading to the advanced quality of our choristers, in singing and musicianship. Please keep us on your prayer list as we travel to perfect the praises of Jesus.

DOK July Meeting
What’s happening with Daughters of the King groups around the world? Who are national officers? Did our quilt offering to the homeless arrive safely? What did our banner look like among the others? These questions and many more will be answered at our July gathering by our Grace Chapter delegate, Kimmey Boyd. We will meet in the Conference room at Grace church at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, July 8. Also bring checkbooks to pay national dues either through the church account or learn how to pay on line.

Movie Night
Grace adults gather each month in the Youth Room to watch and discuss movies old and new addressing a wide variety of subjects. A very casual occasion, participants often bring a little food and drink to share. We always have a good time and lively discussion—join us at 7:00 PM on Friday, July 10.
