GWAG January 14: #eatprayconnect
GWAG on the 2nd Wednesday each month is an opportunity for all ages to gather for activities to reinforce our connection to one another. Plan to join us January 14 for a night of ol’ fashioned BINGO or should we say BINGO with a twist, or maybe “twisted” BINGO as Father Stuart would say! Whatever we call it; this should prove to be a night filled with laughter and silly prizes. Do you remember what a Blackout is? Coverall? Four Corners? Free Space? No problem…this is a game for all ages. We’ll have your table ready!
Make a meal reservation no later than 12:00 PM on Monday, January 12. Sign up at the information table, call the church office, or visit the GWAG page of our website to learn how to sign up online.
Wednesday Short Stories Class Begins January 14
Cynthia and Stuart will lead a reprise of the current Sunday Forum series on Wednesday nights at 7:00 PM January 14 until February 11 (no class on January 28) in the conference room of The Grace Center. The class is an exploration of Dr. Amy-Jill Levine’s book Short Stories by Jesus: The Enigmatic Parables of a Controversial Rabbi. The class will help prepare the parish for Dr. Levine’s upcoming visit to Gainesville as part of the Religion in the 21st Century lecture series. Copies of the book are available for purchase in the parish office for $22.
The GEC hike group will kick off their 2015 season of outdoor activities on January 17 with their annual “soft” hike at Unicoi State Park. The January hike is designed as an opportunity to get hikers back together for fellowship, to check out personal gear, and generally to stretch their legs with a slow, short hike. The selected trail for January 17 will be the lake trail which is a loop of about 2.5 miles. This trail is rated as easy with little elevation change and follows the contour of the 53 acre lake in the park. Deadline for registration will be Wednesday, January 14.
Parish By-laws Revision
We will vote on the proposed revisions to our by-laws at the annual meeting on January 28. A copy of the revised by-laws, with edits included in RED, is available online and there are also a few paper copies on the table in the Greeting area. Take time to read through this document, noting where the vestry has made changes. There will be time for comments at the annual meeting, but we can save a great deal of time by reading ahead as well! If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to write Fr. Stuart or Senior Warden Becky Whitmire.
