Cathedral Bookstore at Grace
The Cathedral Bookstore will be here with books and other resources for sale this Sunday, December 7. You can visit them in the Parish Hall between services. The store will have items on hand that we will be using in upcoming classes and retreats, namely Dr. Amy-Jill Levine’s book Short Stories by Jesus that will be featured in her upcoming lecture series at the Brenau Center and in a very special Sunday Forum series led by Stuart, Cynthia and Michael at Grace Church beginning January 4.
Candlelight Cafe continues with our annual wine tasting on December 10. No reservations are needed for the 6:15 PM program, but please do make a reservation by noon on Monday for the 5:15 meal or if you need nursery care for children age 4 and under. Please note that there is no children’s program on December 10, as Melanie Couch will be supervising rehearsal for the Epiphany Pageant.
Epiphany Pageant Rehearsal
There will be a pageant rehearsal in the nave at 6:15 PM on Wednesday, December 10.
The newsletter that you receive on or around Friday, December 19 will be dated December 21 & December 28 and will cover all news of our parish from December 21—January 3. The deadline to submit information for the combined issue is Thursday, December 11 at 5:00 PM.
Grace adults gather each month in the Youth Room to watch and discuss movies old and new addressing a wide variety of subjects. A very casual occasion, participants often bring a little food and drink to share. We always have a good time and lively discussion—join us at 7:00 PM on Friday, December 12.
Waiting, Watching, Hoping: A Guided Advent Quiet Day
Come share in a space of silence on Saturday, December 13, from 9:00 AM—3:00 PM in the Parish Hall, with opportunities for walking the labyrinth, journaling, and mindful eating. Through all of these practices, we will reflect on what it means to wait, watch, and hope for the coming of Jesus Christ into our lives. Come when you can and leave when you must. Reservations are
required by December 5 for nursery care (children 4 and under) or lunch (suggested donation of $10). Call the parish office at 770-536-0126.
Youth Secret Santa Shopping
All Journey youth (grades 6-12) are invited to attend our annual Secret Santa shopping event. Meet at the church at 5:30 PM for a few Christmas goodies before carpooling to Target. All youth are asked to bring $10 to help with the costs of shopping for gifts and they are encouraged to go out and earn it! At Target we will divide up into teams and help make Christmas a very special day for others in the Gainesville area! Sign up on the google doc that was emailed to you or contact Director of Youth Ministry Teddy Ivey by December 10 if you’d like to participate.
